Doing the math on pay equity

With percentage-based raises, higher earners see bigger dollar increases. For women and other equity-deserving workers who are more likely to be in lower paid roles, this structure could quietly widen pay gaps over time. One alternative? Dollar-based raises. Labour advocate and head of OCUFA, Jenny Ahn, says inequities are less likely to compound when everyone receives the same increase. In time for #InternationalWomensDay, the YWCA Toronto Distinction Award recipient joins Kim Parlee to discuss her lived experience as a woman and a woman of colour in the labour movement. To hear about Ahn's life-long passion for building more equitable workplaces, visit https://www.moneytalkgo.com/video/from-advocacy-to-action-a-labour-champions-fight-for-gender-equity-in-the-workplace
